Announcing a Special Issue of the
IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science
Ion Sources, Fundamentals and Applications
(Scheduled for August 2008)

The editors of the IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science invite authors to submit manuscripts to be considered for publication in a special issue devoted to the topic of Ion Sources, Fundamentals and Applications, which will appear in August 2008. Papers should focus specifically on :

• Physical processes in ion sources and their closely coupled accelerators
• Novel plasma states in ion sources
• Methods for diagnosing ion sources and their beams
• Novel production mechanisms for ion sources
• Methods for producing dust and cluster ion beams
• Ion sources for magnetic and inertial fusion applications
• Biological applications of ion sources
• Materials modification with ion sources
• Innovative applications for ion sources
  

Manuscripts covering recent developments and interesting work in other topics will also be strongly considered for this special issue.

Procedure :

Prospective authors should follow the regular guidelines of the Transactions on Plasma Science as listed in the back cover of the Transactions Issue. All contributions should be submitted electronically to the IEEE Manuscript Central website for peer review at http://tps-ieee.manuscriptcentral.com. Instructions for creating new user accounts, if necessary, are available on the login screen. When submitting your manuscript, be prepared to propose the names and contact information of four referees. All questions concerning the submission process or Manuscript Central related issues should be directed to tps-editor@ieee.org

Submissions are due 1 November 2007

Peer review is an important aspect of scientific publishing, and papers submitted to the Special Issue will undergo the same review process as all other Transactions publications. Please inform the Guest Editors of your intended submission, including paper title, as soon as possible.
